Charity Work
For several years we worked
alongside the Anthony Nolan Trust, helping to raise money.
We are now equally proud to be working alongside another very
deserving charity Clic Sargent. We hope you can help too;
here is a little more information about their important work:
CLIC SARGENT - STRONGER
TOGETHER
Every 24 hours 10 children are diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia.
CLIC Sargent keeps families together when the unimaginable
happens.
CLIC and Sargent Cancer Care for children merged together
in 2005 to become CLIC Sargent, the UK's leading children's
cancer charity.
We provide more for more children and young people with cancer
and leukaemia and their families by:
Providing specialist clinical
care
CLIC Sargent nurses provide specialist care and support both
in hospital, at home and in the community.
A Life line - supporting
the family
CLIC Sargent social workers provide psychosocial and emotional
care and practical support.
Relating to Children
Children often don't understand what is happening to them
and are frightened. CLIC Sargnet play specialists provide
emotional and developmental support, helping them cope with
their traumatic experience.
….and young people.
Cancer and leukaemia can leave teenagers, in particular, feeling
isolated and different from their friends. CLIC Sargent youth
workers offer ways to help them deal with their illness.
Helping to keep families
together
Parents with a child undergoing treatment are often bewildered
and anxious, frequently in a place far from home. CLIC Sargent
runs homes allowing parents, children and siblings to stay
together.
CLIC Sargent holidays
The whole family needs a respite from the routine of treatment.
CLIC Sargent's holiday service provides a relaxing and fun
time for families who can be confident that specialist oncology
care is there when they need it.
Offering financial help
and advice
Cancer often carries a financial cost, quite apart from the
expenses relating to treatment and care - travel costs to
and from hospitals, after school care for siblings and unpaid
leave from work.
CLIC Sargent gives grants and other benefits advice providing
families with a helping hand for their short term and immediate
financial needs.
Researching, Treatment and
Care
Seven out of ten children now survive their cancer, thank
particularly to research into treatment and causes over the
last thirty years.
CLIC Sargent funds research into causes, treatments and needs
of children and young people with cancer and their families.
Can you help?
With no government funding, fundraising plays a vital role
for CLIC Sargent. Every day our dedicated supporters go to
great lengths to raise as much money as possible so that more
and more children and young people with cancer and leukaemia
can be helped. By taking part in these spooky events you could
directly help CLIC Sargent provide all of these services to
patients with cancer or leukaemia and their families.
Every penny truly counts.
