Dowsing Rods and Pendulums

Why carry out “psychic” dowsing?

What is dowsing?

It is said to be the ability to use ones natural sensitivity to seek for and locate things, which we could not know or do, by: using the day to day brain; by learning, by experience; or by using the 5 physical senses. This may be for water, information, minerals, archaeological finds, lost things – whether alive or material, locations, spirits, etc- almost anything really!

How does it work?

No one really knows for sure but it does often appear to provide very accurate information. It has known to be used by: water, mining and oil companies, police forces, etc. There is no scientific explanation, however, it is surprising what results can be obtained!
The best results are found by asking questions, which would be answered by a Yes or No and by learning one's yes, and no you can seek information. The equipment can also be used to give directions and to indicate certain "hot spots" where the item or presence being sought is located!

Why on a paranormal investigation?

At our locations we are trying to find as much relevant information as possible - both by using scientific and other methods. We are not performing dowsing with any hard ingrained belief that it is empirical or 100% accurate. However, by ensuring that dowsers are not influenced by prior knowledge - any accurate information they obtain may go a small way to proving a latent psychic ability within the human brain to obtain knowledge. We then compare information found to historical evidence and any previous paranormal activity on record to see how similar it might be. Sometimes it is wholly inaccurate and sometimes it is very accurate indeed. Information found by dowsing is never considered to be absolute but simply used as a guide and a comparison! Even the best dowsers admit to a small percentage of inaccuracy with all results. Anyone attending our nights will receive instruction on dowsing techniques.

Rod or pendulum?

The “equipment” that is used for dowsing will depend on the individual’s preference.
Some people use L-shaped rods, made from copper, thick wire or even a coat hanger bent round! Other people prefer to use pendulums (or some both for different purposes). Practice of dowsing will soon reveal what you will prefer to use.
