ION Detectors
What are they?
To put it simply they are used to measure
ions. Indoors you will usually find a higher concentration
of positive ions (ions being electrically charged particles)
to outdoors. Positive ions are oxygen with an electron removed
whereas negative ions are oxygen with an added electron. So
for example pollution and air conditioning may create positive
ions as does a thunderstorm.
Why use
them for paranormal research?
Ion detection is often used in conjunction with EMF analysis
for a dual method of detection and many of the same points
mentioned in reference to EMF meters are also relevant to
Ion detectors!
Paranormal experiences do seem to occur more often when there
are lots of negative ions around so there may be a link!
It is claimed that either a ghost or presence may give off
both negative and positive ions when they manifest and so
air ions may be another bi-product of paranormal activity!
Alternatively it may be that certain conditions may be conducive
to paranormal activity.
For example a room charged with ions may be a precondition
for paranormal activity to occur.
Ions may disperse quickly but not hopefully before an ion
detector would pick them up.
