Summary of a return
event at the Pengegon Institute
Saturday 8th July 2006
A return visit to Pengegon Institute was greatly anticipated;
our previous investigations here had been very eventful indeed;
with many people experiencing genuinely unexplained occurrences.
Some incidents even shocked the most sceptical of participants.
We could only hope that we were lucky enough to follow this
up with another successful night… and as it happens we weren't
disappointed!
We all gathered at Pengegon with an introduction and a well-needed
cup of hot tea/coffee. The weather was cold and very wet and
this was a shame as it hindered the night ahead as far as
outside locations, but it didn't dampen our spirits! We wasted
no time in starting the investigation by splitting the guests
into two groups and investigated key areas on a rota basis.
GROUP A (with Stuart Andrews
& Kevin Hynes)
During our last visit, right at the end of the night we all
heard the sound of someone opening the door and walking around
upstairs, only to find the door shut and no one there. This
time this happened right at the start whilst we were still
doing the introductory talk. Kevin and myself rushed straight
up there, again covering the area with high powered torches
and again found the door to be shut and that no one was there!
There was no way anyone could have got in and out in time
without either being seen by us or heard by the rest of the
team downstairs. Various people throughout the night heard
strange noises downstairs; but this was the only time that
it was as loud and everybody was 100% accounted for. A promising
start!
Main Hall

We were dogged in here by equipment
failure and battery drainage, which rendered a lot of the
equipment useless for the night, especially the walkie-talkies.
So mobile phones were resorted to in case of emergency, this
didn't work very well and it was interesting to see how useful
walkie-talkies actually are when covering different areas.
The remaining batteries just about saw us through the night,
although the negative ion detector was a write off! Strange
to get so much battery/equipment failure at the same time,
every item is regularly checked, including the night before
each investigation or event, so we are at a loss to explain
this.
During the first session, five presences were detected through
dowsing and one of the group witnessed a dark grey (what she
believed to be male) figure in the corner of the left hand
side of the stage (near the door). This sighting was accompanied
by a 4 degree temperature drop and high EMF fluctuations were
also picked up where this figure was seen; although we could
not altogether rule out natural electrical interference as
the cause. The same female member of the group also picked
up on a female presence. She could see the presence in her
mind's eye and described her to Graham and Kevin. She had
dark hair and was wearing a grey uniform and a tin hat. She
worked here upstairs.
Graham stated that the female presence she had picked up was
a bell maiden and she used to work on the surface of the mine.
A further presence was identified by another member of the
group next to the sink in the toilets. This was apparently
a male aged 33 This area has a habit of making you feel vulnerable
when you are in it. Flashes of light were reported from the
main entrance door, but sadly not any grey shapes as had been
witnessed last time. At least this supports the argument that
this was not caused by people walking past as there was a
rail maintenance crew outside for the majority of the night.
Light anomalies were also captured on camera, an example of
this shown here, unusually of a pink orb. Whilst in the kitchen
area, a number of the group all heard a peculiar sound all
at the same time, just as Graham asked for a sign. This caused
one of the group quite a fright!
Kevin and Stuart then remained in the hall to accompany the
other group. There wasn't as much activity this time, but
one of the group members did report being touched on the hair
during a séance. Noises were also heard from the toilet area
and control object movement was recorded in one of the storerooms
off from the kitchen. The area was secure and we cannot stress
enough how rare a phenomenon this is, especially to the extent
as shown here!

This amount of movement (albeit millimetres) is not something
we experience often on investigations, rarer still when we
are absolutely sure no human interference could be responsible.
It's a solid hard floor in the kitchen area, so there is no
way this was caused by vibrations from walking…very interesting!
Upstairs:
We then moved upstairs for a couple of sessions where various
experiments such as glass divination and table tipping were
conducted. It has to be said that there was very little to
report from these sessions, although minor experiences were
reported by some individual members of both groups, whilst
up here. Three presences were detected through dowsing, one
in particular would not respond to questions and refused to
confirm if it was male or female. There were some light anomalies
captured on night vision camcorder up here, one in particular
moves across the screen and is better described as a wisp.
As with the control object movement, this is very rare to
encounter. Through dowsing, three presences were picked up:
one female, one male and an "IT". The group decided to carry
out some table tipping with some very slight movement whilst
Graham called out. Glass divination was also carried out;
the glass tilted at one point during the séance but did not
move freely.
Prior to the glass divination both Stuart and Kevin ventured
downstairs to obtain a glass for the divination. On their
return, Stuart entered the morgue first; Kevin followed him
and proceeded to shut the door. As he turned towards the rest
of the group he heard a voice state clearly the word "hey".
There was no one near him at the time and he brought this
to the groups attention to see if anyone else had heard the
same.
GROUP B (with Ian & Will)
Upstairs:
The first area of investigation of which for this group was
the area upstairs, formerly used as a morgue. Here, using
dowsing rods and crystal's, a total of 4 presences were picked
up from different eras, one of which was a female aged in
her 60's, who gave the initial 'G' as a known name. She then
gave the information that she had died of natural causes and
visited this area often. As we continued to dowse, a very
strong presence was picked up near what was used as the first
aid post for ill-fated miners. This presence gave many people
the impression that he was not well liked at all, and information
gathered seemed to point to the fact that he wasn't very truthful
with the answers he gave us. Almost everyone felt very muggy
headed, which progressed to the fact that certain guests had
to leave the area due to feeling very dizzy and even feeling
sick. This has happened on previous occasions here and it
was very interesting from an investigator's point of view
as it always seems to be the same area in question, no obvious
natural explanation can be found for this. During our vigil
here people reported seeing a shadow walk past as if someone
was walking in the room, but no one was walking at the time
when this was sighted. When asking out for a sign in the hope
to communicate with the strange "entity"; something metal
appeared to be thrown, this was not identifiable when we examined
the area where we had all heard it drop. A short séance was
also conducted here where people experienced the feeling of
being pushed in the back and the feeling of being brushed
on the left hand side of their faces as if an unseen hand
had caressed them, this happened to four people. The group
also experienced Camera/Battery failure at key moments and
E.M.F readings didn't seem to tie in with baseline tests and
what had been picked up on other visits, they were very irregular.
One Lady who was sensitive to paranormal activity experienced
the feeling that someone or something was trying to come through
to communicate. Orbs were caught on digital camera and a very
interesting wispy light anomaly was also caught on night vision
camera. An interesting start to the night ahead!
Main Hall:

When the lights go out the hall takes on a completely different
atmosphere, a couple of people here experienced a feeling
like choking and found it very hard to breath… again this
had been picked up before in this area. Again pictures containing
strange orbs of light were taken here and doors seemed to
shake but with the poor weather conditions we could not rule
out natural causes. It was decided that we would conduct a
glass divining experiment here in the hope to communicate
with a boy presence, which had been picked up in the room.
We were all astonished by the results we achieved when using
the glass. Even for the most sceptical of us it was interesting,
because we took it in turns to remove our hand to ask a question
and to our amazement the glass still moved and rule out a
single person's interference. The boy who gave the name 'Jack'
told us through the use of the glass that he had passed over
due to a mining accident on the 15th of April 1816. A total
of 15 people lost their lives, which involved a ladder falling,
this also included his father. At this point there seemed
to be strange noises and movement coming from the kitchen,
the door was shut and no one was in there as there is only
one way into the kitchen and they would have had to come through
the hall to where we where sitting. When asked if this was
Jack's father the glass moved to a 'Yes'. The father who gave
the name 'Dennis' gave the information that he was unhappy
and blamed himself for the death of his son in the accident;
he died before his son and he felt he was unable to join his
son. After a while asking different questions we asked if
they could come together and join each other as they wanted
to do this, during this two people from the circle experienced
a rather strong electric shock from the glass itself! One
of these was a very questioning and experienced investigator.
He was astonished and couldn't believe he had felt such a
thing. Another presence was also picked up while glass divining
towards the end of the night, the glass almost flying around
the table very quickly unnerved some of us and again we felt
that he/she was not welcome and we decided not to continue.
This was just a small account of the some of the strange,
puzzling events that occurred that night and again a lot of
people came away from this hidden gem of a location with their
own experiences and with a story to tell.
Conclusion
All experienced a most enjoyable night, even though it seemed
to be a bit on the quiet side at times, when something did
occur this most definitely made up for it. Although things
did not appear too dramatic during the night, we did have
a ridiculous amount of battery failure, significant control
object movement in the kitchen area, a wisp anomaly on camcorder,
the sound again of someone moving around upstairs. Whilst
returning from downstairs during the last session, Kevin clearly
heard someone say "Hey" as if they were in the room. Although
others did not hear this, there was no one around that this
could have been mistaken for.
A Haunting Experiences repeat with some good results again,
Pengegon never disappoints!
Notes From Participants:
ONE:
A good night was had by all last Saturday with H.E. at the
Institute:
Some great responses to prompts on a few occasions.
During a séance we were having, I asked the spirit presence
to touch the people in the circle, most felt a light brushing
on their faces or touching their faces whilst I had two hands
on my shoulders which appeared to be pushing me forward so
much so that I was beginning to lean forward.......excellent!
Also had intense tingling on my shoulders when I was touched/pushed.
A great shame others didn't experience the same but I ask,
why me?
In the back store in the kitchen, there was a young couple
who went in the back store room after a noise was heard. She
went in first with her EMF, I was standing behind her and
her hubby was filming night vision video over my shoulder.
I asked if any spirit was present and nothing happened and
after I repeated the question again, something flew or was
dropped in the store with a distinctly prominent knock and
bouncing noise. In fairness it could have been something dropping
from the old ceiling but I can't be positive about that. She
turned and ran past me in a panic almost pushing me over and
thank goodness he kept filming! A few minutes later more people
came to the store room after hearing the panic and something
slid across the floor, though it was heard, nothing was seen
moving but it's all on video. I was 'buzzing' with static
whilst in the back storeroom so we were definitely in spiritual
company there! Also did some table tipping, which seemed to
have worked a treat both in the hall and upstairs.
There was also a woman that was quite sensitive amongst the
group and she was picking up on a lot of things including
the little boy in the hall who made her cry! Thing was; she
was either spot-on or close with the info she was giving.
A great night!
TWO:
Hi Team,
Just wanted to say thanks for a great night, the best part
of the night for us both was definitely when we were down
stairs in the hall with Will and Ian and we made contact with
Jack and Dennis.
Later on tonight I will be trying to research the two names
and see if anything rings true on the information we found
out from them.
I will also be having a closer look at some of the photos
I took as there seems to be some light anomalies.
Once again I would like to say thanks and hope to see you
again as we would love to join you again on one of your investigations.
THREE:
Hi All
Thank you for Saturday we loved it and will be asking to return.
It was nice to see some new faces and glad to know you all
have the same sense of humour. (Sorry Ian and Will!)
It was the First time that I have used glass on table and
so strange,
Could have done with a pasty though,
All in All a Great Night
ps Some photos for you

FOUR:
Hi gang
Quick thank you for Saturday another great evening from you
all as usual.
A very different place and area but we loved it and definitely
would love to go again if possible.
Have sent and a couple of photos one not in colour because
of the orbs showing up so well, also for some strange reason
the flash gave up on the camera half way through.
