Summary of an Investigation at
The Wellington Hotel
- 2nd December 2005

This is one of Cornwall’s Most notoriously haunted locations and spending the whole night here turned out to be an investigation thoroughly enjoyed by every single person present and also there was possibly quite a bit of paranormal activity.

This was a joint investigation between The Paranormal Research Organisation and Haunting Experiences and as we all sat down to a wonderful 3 course meal it was difficult to imagine that anything spooky would occur – boy were we wrong!

Even before we began properly - there were a couple of things that happened at the Wellington Hotel that were interesting: Just before we started the investigation several people felt blasts of cold air when we were talking in the lounge, and when we stood up to start the investigation noticed that a draped curtain moved, we did initially put this down to the wind blowing through the windows but as these were thick heavy draped curtains and the windows were closed…

Then we began the introduction and role allocations at 10.45 only to notice later that the grandfather clock had stopped at exactly the same time!

One team member in charge of base tests had some good responses with the equipment in certain rooms. With sudden temperature drops from 19c down to 14c in 2 separate rooms. Also the EMF meter was showing high readings at the same time.

After we called it a night (about 5.30a.m.); one investigator was in bed when he saw a dark shadow which appeared to move from the bathroom door to the exit through the room door. This is very consistent with what is believed to happen here. Also another investigator saw a figure in a corridor when going off to bed and during the early hours several people (from different rooms) all heard footsteps outside. On investigation it appears nobody could have been there!

During the investigation 2 people saw a remote control fall onto the floor. Later the person staying in that room recounted that they had woken in the morning and found the remote control had mysteriously moved. They had not known anything of the other persons tale and the door had been firmly locked!

All in all an exciting and beautiful location and one where strange things certainly happened!
